Education
I have completed a dual Bachelors of Science degree in Marine Biology and Coastal Environmental Science, with a minor in Chemistry at Louisiana State University. I then went on to complete a master of Environmental Science and Management degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. My specialization was in coastal marine management and my thesis topic was on fisheries management. I am currently completing my Ph.D. in Marine Biology at James Cook University. My thesis is using theoretical ecology modeling to look at the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem stability.
Experience
I have experience working as a tutor for conservation biology and statistics, in addition to also previously acting as an informal tutor for friends and classmates while completing my undergraduate education at LSU. I am extremely passionate about instilling a love and literacy in science in the youth, whether or not they plan on continuing studies in the sciences because its applications transcend disciplines. With expert tutoring sessions tailored to specific needs and unique learning styles, my students always set the pace for their learning and decide what material to cover and when to cover it. In addition to all of this, my tutoring sessions offer students the kind of individualized one-on-one attention and timeous responses to their questions and concerns that is not always available to them in traditional classrooms.
