Sharon D.
Private tutor in Brisbane, Australia
Education
I completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science, degree with 1st Class Honours at the University of Queensland in Australia in 2003. In 2011, I completed a Ph.D. in Social Psychology, also from the University of Queensland.
Experience
I received an Australian Postgraduate Award in 2005 and went on to complete my Ph.D. in 2011. The findings from my Ph.D. were selected for the inaugural publication of "Research and Innovations in the Social Sciences" by the University of Queensland's Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (SBS) and Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR). The research contained in the profile was chosen because it reflects the ultimate resolution of UQ's mission for learning, discovery, and engagement. I was awarded the Commendation for Tutoring Excellence from the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland in 2005, which was a one-time award for my particularly high commitment to tutoring. I was awarded the Dean's Commendation for the Students' Teaching Staff Favourites also from the School of Psychology in 2010. My teaching evaluation (TEVAL) scores are in the high 25th percentile with an average teaching ability score of 4.7 out of 5. I have tutored psychology students at the University of Queensland (UQ) since 2004. I have tutored first to fourth-year students in the areas of social psychology, cognitive psychology, biological and neurological psychology, psychology and law, research design, both survey and experimental, and statistics, including multivariate statistics. I have been a thesis supervisor for fourth-year honors students, masters students, and Ph.D. students through the School of Psychology at UQ on an ongoing basis. I was employed from 2011 to 2016 as a research scientist at CSIRO, Australia's leading federal government scientific and industrial research organization. I am currently employed at the University of Queensland on an ARC Linkage Grant research project examining the well-being of older-aged migrants living in Australia.
