Private tutor in Brisbane, Australia

Education

I completed my high school certificate in 2009 before going on to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree specializing in Ancient History and English Literature in 2012 with a GPA of 6. I have also completed a Bachelor of Arts honors degree (honors 1st class) with a GPA of 7.

Experience

I am passionate about helping students learn in an engaging and challenging environment. As a highly motivated and experienced researcher, I enjoy tutoring students and helping students build confidence in their ability to achieve academically. I am confident that my passion for the subject and experience in tutoring are qualities suitable for this position. Through my formative education and previous tutoring experience, I have acquired and developed skills that would be suitable for this position. Since 2009 I have privately tutored high school students in Biology, Legal Studies, English Literature, and Ancient History, as well as first-year university students in English Literature and Ancient History. Additionally, in the first half of semester two of 2010, I acted as a student teacher at St Stephen's College. In this role I assisted the primary teacher in planning classes, carrying out lessons, and assisting students with any problems. In both these positions, I have helped students learn to approach topics in a logical and analytical manner in order to appropriately construct and write their essays and exams. I have also acted as a mentor in the CLAMO (Classical Languages: Advancement, Mentoring, Outreach) and MUSA (Mentoring for Undergraduate Students of Ancient History) programs run by the Classics and Ancient History Society (CAHS). As a CLAMO mentor, I assisted in running help sessions for students enrolled in the Classical Language courses, answering any questions students were faced with when completing their translations, homework, and understanding general grammar. From 2012 to 2013 I was the Vice-President responsible for CLAMO, leading and organizing CLAMO mentors and tutoring sessions. Furthermore, as a MUSA mentor, I helped students with problems including understanding their reading lists, using the library, finding primary sources, and providing advice on how to prepare for assignments and exams. Finally, in semester 2 of 2014, I was one of the tutors for the undergraduate course ANCH1250 The Rise of Ancient Rome, and in semester 1 of 2015, I tutored ANCH2230 The Age of Imperial Rome. Both these courses have allowed me to gain valuable experience in teaching at the tertiary level.
